MESSAGE TO OWNERS AND RESIDENTS

As per the amendment to the Public Health Emergency Rules issued on May 6th, 2020, by Mayor Victorino, our association swimming pool is now allowed to be open with restrictions and certain protective measures in place. Gyms, recreation centers, hot tubs and gathering places are not being allowed to open yet. For this reason, the fitness room, lounge, hot tub, BBQ’s, bathroom showers and kitchen will not be open at this time, nor will any  furniture be made available. We are following the direction from the Mayor’s office. Below is an excerpt from an email we received from the Mayor’s office:

“Thank you for your email. At this point we are only allowing pools at condominiums to open. You still need to post social distancing rules of at least 6 feet. We are not allowing barbecue – spas – hot tubs – jacuzzi, etc. to be reopened. Only the opening of your pool is allowed. The easiest thing to do is post signs stating pool only is open with the social distancing. Post “Swimming ONLY” and they must leave when they finished their swim.”

We will follow decisions made by the county and will open other areas as we are able to.

The pool will open on Wednesday, May 20th at 8am .

To the best of our knowledge, there is no evidence that COVID-19 can be spread to humans through the use of pools. Proper operation, maintenance, and disinfection of pools should remove or inactivate the virus that causes COVID-19. From what we can gather, COVID-19 can’t spread through treated water, but it can be transmitted through close contact or contaminated surfaces. We want residents to benefit from as much safe activity outdoors as possible, but we are putting what we believe are sensible safety measures in place.

People using the pool will be doing so voluntarily, entirely at their own risk and are expected to take responsibility for themselves. All users are also expected to comply with the additional  POOL RULES that are being put forth and will be posted in the Recreation Area. Please see these below:

Additional Pool Rules Effective May 20, 2020

We don’t have the manpower to “police” the area and therefore ask that every resident take responsibility for his or her own behavior and to be on the “honor system”. Please be considerate of others and be safe. Please know that we are finding our way in this unprecedented situation; these rules may need to be modified going forward as the situation changes or new information becomes available, or if the additional pool rules are not being followed.

House Rule 8.1 states:

“All persons using the Recreation Area shall comply with all posted rules and warning signs.”

Therefore if you notice a violation of one of these rules, please contact the Site Manager by providing an Incident Report, as well as photos where possible. The usual process with respect to House Rule violations will then be followed.

Lastly, in order to protect our Site Manager from any possible exposure especially when guests start to return, he will continue to communicate and work with owners/residents as he has been doing since the stay at home order came into effect. This will be via email (preferred method) and phone. His office will be locked with a sign posted asking owners/residents to communicate in this way. There have been no problems with working this way during the last few weeks and owners/residents have already adapted to this well. Should an owner/resident require a face to face discussion this will be handled on an as needed basis and a time will be set up with the owner/resident. This discussion will take place outdoors at the pool area with social distancing and masks. Chairs will of course be provided for the discussion if the facility is not fully open yet.

Owners are responsible to share all of this information with their tenants if their units are rented.

Thank you for your cooperation and enjoy the use of the pool.

Sincerely,

Wailea Fairway Villas Board of Directors
